Rules
Tournament Rules:
The following rules are in effect for all Victory Sports Enterprises, LLC tournaments unless otherwise specified. Please click on the link to the left entitled "Tournaments", then select the NCAA sanctioned event in question, followed by clicking on the "Event Flyer" for a different set of rules for all College Exposure events.
State High School Athletic Association rules will be used, with the following additions/exceptions:
- Pool play format, followed by a single elimination tournament.
- Tie Breakers:
- Head to head
- Point differential (max of 13) of pool play games between only the teams involved in the tie, then back to head to head between the remaining teams.
- If three or more teams are still tied, then fewest points allowed.
- Coin flip.
- Tie Breaker Example: Three-team tie breaker situation where all three teams have a 2-1 record (teams tied are named Team Red, Team Blue, and Team Yellow). Team Red beat Team Blue by 14, lost to Team Yellow by 3, and beat Team Green by 40. Team Blue lost to Team Red by 14, beat Team Yellow by 7, and beat Team Green by 10. Team Yellow beat Team Red by 3, lost to Team Blue by 7, and beat Team Green by 21. Since Team Green is not one of the teams i the 3-way tie, all games against Team Green are removed from the equation. The final pool results are: Team Red in first place by virtue of winning tie breaker #2 (see above). In second place is Team Blue even though they finished with -7 pool points and Team Yellow finished with only -4 because Team Blue beat Team Yellow head to head. Team Yellow finishes third and Team Green (at 0-3) finishes fourth.
- Game time is start time. Don't be late! Forfeits count at -13 in a tie breaker situation. There is a 10 minute grace period that may be waived at the Tournament/Site Director's discretion if we are behind schedule.
- Games for age groups 5th Grade/10U and 6th Grade/11U will be 6 minute quarters, while ages 7th Grade/12U, 8th Grade/13U, 9th Grade/14U, 10th Grade/15U, and "Open Division" (11th or 12th Grade are both welcome here) will be 7 minute quarters. The clock will stop for all dead balls, except in the 4th quarter when one team is up by 25+ points, in which case the clock will run continuously (except on time outs) until the lead is 24 points or less.
- In the event of overtime, the first overtime period will be 3 minutes. Each additional overtime will be 1 minute.
- Warm-ups will be 5 minutes long and halftime will be 3 minutes, though the Site Director and Referee Assigner reserves the right to reduce this amount if the tournament gets behind schedule.
- Each team is required to provide either a clock operator or a book keeper for each game. The home team shall provide the book keeper while the visiting team will provide the clock operator.
- 3 full (1 minute) time outs will be allowed per game. Additionally, 1 full time out will be added for the first overtime period only. Regulation time outs do not carry over into overtime, but the 1 added overtime timeout may be used at any point during overtime(s).
- The one-and-one bonus will take effect on the 7th team foul of each half. Double bonus takes effect on the 10th team foul of each half. 5 fouls on an individual player for that game will disqualify that player.
- If a player or coach is ejected from a game for any reason, they must then sit out the next game. If they are ejected a second time, they are disqualified for the remainder of the event. The Tournament or Site Director reserves the right to change this rule under his/his discretion.
- AAU ages are in effect for all age groups. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS WITHOUT WRITTEN CONSENT FROM THE VSE STAFF.
- Teams found to be using ineligible players for any reason will forfeit all games in which the ineligible player participated and that player is then disqualified from the remainder of the tournament. Players may not participate on more than one team in the same age group.
- Please bring birth certificates for all of your players. These may be requested for verification at team check-in.
- VSE and/or the Tournament Director has the right to refuse admittance to any team, for any reason, into any VSE event.
