Fila High School Summer Meltdown
Welcome to our 2nd annual summer event for school-based teams (not for AAU or club-type teams). Victory Sports Enterprises has been hosting basketball tournaments for more than a decade and features a staff composed mostly of former/current coaches. We are dedicated to making this one of the best events you'll attend anywhere. Expect our games to run on time, our staff to be professional, and assistance to be available should you have any problems. The event this year is being hosted in conjunction with the Capital City Comets and the Columbus Lady Rage AAU programs. This girls only event will feature three divisions:
- Varsity Division
- Junior Varsity Division (freshman teams welcome here)
- Middle School Division (open to both 7th and 8th grade teams)
- Age divisions are determined by the grade just completed during the 2011-2012 school year.
The cost is only $200 per team for 3 games in one day (Saturday or Sunday). We also offer a 5-game format (split over both Saturday and Sunday) for $275 per team.
The format will be three shootout-style games on Saturday or Sunday (you choose which day) for each team. You will be matched up with teams of similar ability as much as possible. Certified referees will be used in all games.
Tournament rules:
- We will use OHSAA rules with the following exceptions:
- 5 minutes will be provided for both warm-ups and halftime unless we are running behind schedule.
- All games will be played with a running clock format. The clock will only stop in the last two minutes of the 2nd half except for timeouts or injury situations. Game length will be two 20 minute halves for all divisions.
- Free Throws: There is no one-and one. For all 2-shot situations we will award 1 point and shoot 1 free throw.
- In the event of overtime, the first overtime is 3 minutes. Any subsequent overtimes are 1-minute.
- 2 full timeouts per half that do not carry over into the second half or overtime. If overtime occurs, 1 total timeout will be granted for overtime. This does NOT mean one per overtime period, rather one total for all overtimes.
- VSE will not provide warm-up or game balls. Please allow the referees to borrow a ball for each game. Be sure to get your ball back after the game!
- Each team will provide one person to work the scorers table for each game. The home team (listed first/top of the schedule/bracket) runs the official book and the visiting team the game clock. Please have someone ready to do this duty while the teams are warming up so as to not delay the start of the game.
- Game time is game time. A forfeit may be called (at the discretion of the Site Director) after a team is more than 5 minutes late.
